Touch, explore and play at The Children’s Museum of South Carolina, where the admission is only $8.00 and they are open year round! Beginning now until May, the museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9:00am-3:00pm and Sundays 12:00pm -5:00pm.
In addition to their regular 18 exhibits, they have added 3 new displays - including an” Under Construction House” where kids can learn about tools while using jumbo blocks to design, build and tear down the house. Your kids will also love “An Imagination Playground” where they can transform a pile of oversized blue foam blocks into a playground, build a slide, a fort, a robot, or anything their creativity can imagine! And the final new exhibit, “Sea Turtles Dig Into the Dark” allows kids to crawl through a sand dune to discover more than 120 loggerhead turtle eggs in a nest. They will see the size of these gentle giants that nest on the beaches of South Carolina all summer and learn what can be done to help these endangered species.
The museum also has daily activities, including “Tales for Tots” where families can participate in story time and crafts with children ages 1-4 every Tuesday at 10:30am. Each Wednesday at 11:30am, your kids can join “Sensability” which lets you explore the world around you while using your 5 senses. At 1:30pm on Wednesdays, your children can be the author or the illustrator of a fairy tale when they take part in “Story Starters”. At “Lil Engineers” every Thursday at 11:30am, your kids can plan and build their own design using various tools and recycled materials to invent, explore and discover. And on Fridays at 11:30am, your family can end the week with “ABC’s & 123’s” where museum educators will highlight a letter or number to jumpstart learning.
The Children’s Museum is located at 2304 Oak Street across from the Convention Center, just a few miles south of The Caravelle Resort. Have fun while learning!
