Baseball at the Beach Tournament
The 14th Annual Caravelle Resort Baseball at the Beach tournament is scheduled for Thursday, February 20th, 2014. Hosted by Coastal Carolina University, the tournament features a strong line-up of teams, including former national champion Wichita State, George Mason, UCONN, and Illinois.
Founded in 2001, Baseball at the Beach is one of the nation’s premier college baseball tournaments. Anchored by Coastal Carolina University’s nationally-ranked program, the tournament gives fans an early season glimpse at some of the nation’s elite teams. Many of the participating teams have used the Baseball at the Beach Tournament as a kick-start for successful seasons which have included appearances in the College World Series.
Tickets can be purchased at BB&T Coastal Field, home to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, or by calling the Myrtle Beach Pelicans ticket office at (843) 918-6000. Tickets are $5.00 per single game, $10.00 for a day pass, or $25.00 for an all tournament pass.
In the first game of the tournament, Coastal Carolina will take on George Mason at 4:00pm on Thursday, February 20th. Friday, February 21st at 12:00 (noon), George Mason will battle Illinois. Then at 4:00pm, UCONN vs. Wichita State. On Saturday, February 22nd prepare for Wichita State vs. George Mason at 10:00am, Illinois vs. Coastal Carolina at 1:30pm, and then end your day watching George Mason and UCONN at 5:00m. Sunday, February 23rd the tournament begins at 9:30am when Illinois and Wichita State go head to head. After lunch, UCONN and Coastal Carolina play at 1:30pm . Monday, February 24th at 4:00pm, Wichita State vs. Coastal Carolina in the final game of the tournament.
The Caravelle Resort will be providing accommodations at a discounted rate for the teams traveling to play in the tournament. Parents, friends, alumni and fans are invited to stay as well! So pack clothing in your team’s favorite colors, and plan to eat breakfast at our on-site restaurant, the Santa Maria. You may very well find yourself eating at a table next to a future All Star!
