Weekend Vacation Before Leaving For Iraq
Jessica Lightfoot | Jacksonville
In 2007, our family spent the weekend at the Caravelle. This was a very important weekend to us and the hotel had to be "just right". My husband was leaving for Iraq within weeks and this would be the last weekend we spent with him before he was shipped off to war. Therefore, it was vital that the time we spent together was perfect.
My children and I drove to Fort Bragg, North Carolina from Jacksonville, Florida to pick my husband up from his Army training and then proceded to drive to Mrytle Beach. I selected Caravelle Family Resort because it looked like a fantastic place for the kids, one where great memories would be created. I took the risk of booking the hotel over the Internet, only seeing pictures online. Fortunately, the Internet advertisements were accurate and my family was able to spend what precious time we had left with my husband enjoying the company of one another at your resort.
Two years have passed since we visited your resort. My husband has been mobilized, once again, to return to Iraq. Unfortunately, he will not be able to join us on our upcoming beach vacation. My sons and I will travel to Caravelle this August from Jacksonville, Florida to honor our familial promise to visit Caravelle Resort bi-annually.
This speaks volumes regarding the quality of your resort. We live in a town that is cluttered with hotels of all sorts. Even so, Caravelle is our family's resort and no other could replace it.
