1989 and others years

Yvan Robillard | Trois-Riviers,Qc, Canada

I started going to the Caravelle in about 1985 or 86, not too sure driving from toronto at the time. It used to take 2 and 1/2 days to get to Myrtle beach.

This was the time that the Caravelle was a small 4 stories hotel and we were a bunch of friends from all over the continent who useed to come for 2 weeks right after Labour day.My wife and I were the Young kids on the block (we were in our 40's and they were all over in their 60's,)

Thru the years, they all died and the only ones still alive are Phil and Joan Mills from toronto, and myself.     Today they live in an assisted facility as the are both in thier 90's. We still talk and remember the wunderfull time we had there EXCEPT ...  1989

This was the year Hurricane Hugo struck Myrtle Beach we were avacuated at about 04.00 in the morning and i will always remember that drive and the chaos on the roads out of Myrtle Beach.

I see today that the fathers of Myrtle beach had their lessons on that famous day. the roads are excellant

I still went back to back the Myrtle beach with my wife until last years before she died and I guess that this year as the only active member of that group; i will be going alone......................

Best regards
