The Chilympics in October
So, you think that you’re a chili master, huh? Come see how the best of the best prepare their famous chili at the 14th Annual Lip Rippin’ Chilympics on October 13th, 2013 from noon to 6pm. Get your spoons ready…samples are just a dollar!
This fun-filled and much anticipated event will be held at the Wicked Tuna and Crazy Sister Marina in Murrells Inlet. There will be several categories in which over 40 chili-cooking masters will be competing (with $5000 in cash and prizes in each group). Here’s the list of all eight titles that are up for grabs:
-Best Vegetarian (Vegetarian chili? I gotta see this…)
-Hottest (Don’t worry - There will be plenty of refreshing tongue extinguishers there!)
-Best Use of South Carolina Products
It’s gonna be a big chili-eating bash! Live performances include plenty of regional bands including the national act “I Am Dynomite” who’ll be headlining the event. Also rocking out that afternoon are “Ten Toes Up”, “The Strikomatics”, “The Winchesters”, “The Kregs”, “Paperwork”, “Sideways Derby”, and “The Carvers”. In addition, there will be plenty of things for children to do in the Kid’s Area that will be decked out with inflatables, face painting, and plenty of food and drinks.
The taste bud pleasing cook-off will be sponsored by the Grand Strand Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. Since 1984, this wonderful non-profit organization has been all about protecting our oceans, waves, and beaches in places like Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and the Gulf of Mexico. If it wasn’t for these folks, we wouldn’t have the clean and safe oceans that we enjoy year in and year out in places like beautiful Myrtle Beach, SC. So, come out and show your love next month by sampling some great chili and enjoying the vivacious scene Sunday festivities!
