The 2013 Irish Italian Festival
The 10th Annual Irish Italian Festival will be held on September 28th, 2013 on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach from 10:00am ‘til 4:00pm. Rain or shine, the 15,000 expected guests this year will gather to enjoy the festivities of this exciting family event.
There will be two stages set up with lots going on that day. Stage One will be at 412 Main Street, right in front of Flynn’s Irish Tavern. Delicious BBQ will be served at around 10:00 am, followed by the Port City Pipes and Drums. Other performers that day include Band on the Rum as well as The Willie Lynch Band.
Stage Two will be at 400 Main Street, adjacent to the Salvation Army. Arts Alive (a great dance group out of Longs, SC that gives pre-professional, masters, and recreational classes in music and the arts) will be performing that day. Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers out of New Orleans will also be on stage jamming. According to their website, they were voted #29 out of the “Top 100 Reasons to Visit Louisiana”.
Like I said before, there will be plenty of events for children and adults. For example, there will be a Lego Building Contest that’s for kids. Come and see if you can build something that’s your height, or maybe even taller! There is also the much anticipated Spaghetti Eating Contest. It’ll be held at Stage Two at 2:30pm, so whoever is participating shouldn’t fill up on all the tasty food from the many local Grand Strand restaurants who’ll have stations set up amongst the festivities! They’ll be competing for the titles Best Entrée, Best Decorated, and Best Dessert.
The admission to the Irish Italian festival will be free, so just bring your family, a good mood, and prepare yourself to have a fun-filled afternoon!
