The Children’s Museum of South Carolina
If you feel the need to jog your children’s brain muscles a little during their Christmas break from school, then the Children’s Museum of South Carolina is the best place to do it. The museum will have "Brunch with Santa" on December 23rd, 2012 at the Museum from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. Kids will also get to meet Frosty the Snowman and receive a digital photo card to show their family and friends. If you need a place for your kids to ring in the New Year, there will also be a “Noon Years Bash” on December 31, 2012 from 10 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Serving all of SC’s state and local communities (along with all the visitors to the Grand Strand each year), CMSC’s mission is to promote self-discovery in our children through collaborative learning practices. Since they opened their doors in 1994, the museum has encouraged young people to touch, explore, and play in their interactive exhibits and participate in their fun educational programs, which allows kids to learn about the world around them (and in the process more about themselves). There are so many great exhibits (too many to name them all in this article) at CMSC that will expand young minds, one being “Big Bank”, which is made possible by Wells Fargo and BB&T. In it, kids role play as a banker or loan officer and learn money saving, earning, and spending techniques. “Bubble Mania” is also a lot of fun, where kids learn what makes a bubble, then they can put themselves inside of a giant one (most parents can’t help but get inside of it too!) You can figure out how to build circuits in the “It’s Electric” exhibit, feel 78 mph winds and learn what to do when one a storm is coming in the “Hurricane Simulator”, or see live animals from our community in the “Habitat Habit” section.
Admission to the Children’s Museum of South Carolina is only $8 a person, and it’s located just a few miles from The Caravelle Resort at 2501 N. Kings Hwy in Myrtle Beach.
