Bike Safety in Myrtle Beach
There are thousands of bikers that come to Myrtle Beach every May for the great food, wonderful weather, and fun attractions. We at The Caravelle Resort want everybody to be safe out there, so here are some tips for everyone riding on everything from Harleys to Hondas!
First of all, please wear your helmet. According to Ultimate Motorcycling.com, falling from only six feet at a speed of just 13.4 miles per hour can actually be fatal! In fact, Advocates for Highway Safety found that as a person on a motorcycle, you are 37% more likely to die in an accident. Wearing the right protective headgear can greatly decrease that number, so find a stylish one that matches your motorcycle and don it proudly! When everyone sees how good it looks as it coordinates so well with your bike, you’ll be setting a great example, and chances are other bikers here on the Grand Strand and everywhere else will follow your lead.
Secondly, don’t drink and ride your bike. Here on the beach, there are so many bars and clubs to attend and you may be tempted to, but don’t do it! You’ll be putting yourself and everyone else on the road in danger. Instead, park your bike and find a place to lodge. Check in here at The Caravelle Resort. There are plenty of rooms available, but they are filling up fast! Click here to see our accommodations, amenities, and specials!
Finally, the easiest thing to do to stay safe this month (and year round) is to be an aware biker on the road. For example, before you make a turn or a split second decision to switch lanes, look over your shoulder twice for other vehicles. This is one of the busiest times of the year in Myrtle Beach, and there will be a lot more cars, motorcycles and mopeds on the road than usual.
We hope you have a great time at the bike rallies this month here on the beach. Have fun, and be safe!
