Caravelle Resort’s Baseball at the Beach Weekend

From February 25th - March 3rd, 2013, the “Baseball at the Beach” Tournament will be held at the Myrtle Beach Pelicans Stadium (rated “Top Ballpark in the Carolina League” in 2009). The weather this weekend is supposed to be outstanding, and among the teams that are scheduled to play are Coastal Carolina University, San Diego, Florida Atlantic, Indiana, NC State, UMBC, and West Virginia.

TicketReturn.com Field is located at 1251 21st Ave. N., just a few miles north of the Caravelle Resort, the place where many of the teams will be lodging during their stay on the Grand Strand. The wonderful stadium has been open since early 1998 and has been a great host for Minor League Baseball here on the beach ever since.

Even though its name has changed a few times (Coastal Federal Field was what the park was originally called, it then switched to BB&T Coastal Field in August of ’07), fans from out of town always remember its location with it being directly across the street from Broadway at the Beach. It’s either that or the time in the fall of 2000 when that car swerved off 21st and smashed into the left field wall (no one was hurt, by the way!). Whichever memories you recollect, it doesn’t shadow the fact that when it comes to playing or watching baseball in the early spring, the Home of the Pelicans is one of the best places to do it.

It’s best to get to the stadium about an hour before the games in order to have time to park. As you know, all parking is free for fans, just be sure to keep your tag displayed and stay in the entry lane for everyone’s safety.

Caravelle Resort’s "Baseball at the Beach Weekend" will bring lots of players to the property, so don’t be surprised to see many uniforms over the next few days. As a guest, don’t forget to use your VMB Card to get a 10% discount in their Pro Shop and a free player poster (while supplies last).
