Looking for a place to “restore your soul & renew your spirit”? From its beginning in 1931, Brookgreen Gardens has provided the perfect venue to do just that. Named by Trip Advisor as one of the 2013 top 10 public gardens in the United States, this sculpture garden & wildlife preserve is a 9,100 acre property! There are several themed gardens, including a patriotic area with American figurative sculptures, a low country zoo, and trails through several ecosystems in nature reserves.
This September, Brookgreen Gardens is hosting several special events, including the “Into the Wild Lunchtime Lecture” on Tuesday, September 24th at noon. Bring your lunch and join other nature enthusiasts for a free lecture presented by the zoo staff in the Wall Low Country Center Auditorium.
On Saturday, September 28th, the 2nd annual “Brew at the Zoo” will be held from 5:30pm-8:30pm. This craft beer tasting features over 30 regional and national selections and offers attendees a rare opportunity to see several exhibits at the Low Country Zoo at night. Guests will receive a signature tasting glass, snacks and enjoy the music of Bullfrog, a favorite regional band. Food and wine will also be available for purchase. Ticket prices for this event are $40 and are available online or at Brookgreen itself.
Sunday, September 29th from 3:00pm-4:00pm in the Campbell Center Studio, there will be a Sculpture Demonstration. Entrance is free with garden admission.
