Beer Fest 2013
Do you like beer? Do you like festivals? Well, there’s one place you need to be on March 29th, 2013…Beer Fest! It’s gonna be at the House of Blues, and that’s just a short drive north of the Caravelle Resort, so you’re in luck!
There will be live entertainment and dozens of vendors there, plus over 100 beers for you to sample from various suppliers, including Advintage, Aleph, Better Brands, Southern, and Yahnis. This extensive list will make your taste buds tingle with every name you read.
Since Myrtle Beach is in the south, you’re sure to want to try a Southern favorite, Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye. It is 6.6% ABV and contains a grain that can survive in the worst conditions. Rye has a slightly peppery but citrus balanced flavor to it, and it is often used by brewers when they want to add a little density to a beer. The Spaten Optimator, though listed under the Southern category, is actually a German Double Bock. It’s a little stronger at 7.5% ABV, but you’d never know it with its full-bodied, roasted malt taste.
One of the funniest named beers, Smutty Nose Old Brown Dog, is a chocolate roasted oak ale supplied by Better Brands. It’s the strongest in its category on the Beer Fest list at 6.5% ABV. Foothills Hoppyum IPA is next at 6.3%, and this hops-filled citrusy American beer is brewed not far from Myrtle Beach, right there in Winston-Salem, NC.
This is just a little of what you can expect at Beer Fest 2013. The House of Blues is located at 4640 Highway 17 South in North Myrtle Beach. You don’t want to miss this beer-lover’s extravaganza. But please, drink responsibly.
