Kirk Frankin’s Sunday Brunch at the House of Blues
Grammy Award Winning Gospel superstar Kirk Franklin has hand-picked what he believes to be the best singers to come down to Myrtle Beach’s House of Blues (a few miles north of The Caravelle Resort) for Sunday Brunch during the month of October. It’s going on from 9am-2pm every Sunday, and the price of admission includes the buffet, live show, and any non-alcoholic beverages.
Part of the proceeds from the show are going towards the International House of Blues Foundation. This great organization provides arts and music support to many underserved youth in Myrtle Beach and all over the country. So come out, sing, eat, have fun, and show your love for the arts during this Sunday Brunch, which will be held on the 13th, the 20th, and the 27th of October 2013.
For those who may not know who Kirk Franklin is, he changed gospel music forever in the 90’s and is still doing so today. In his early career, Franklin got a lot of criticism for being a big fan of Hip-Hop and R&B, and then blending the upbeat tempo and swagger of these styles of music into Gospel. Eventually, his goal of reaching the ears, minds, and hearts of young people all over the world was met as many of our youth began taking interest in his music and God. He touched my life when I was a teenager with songs like “Stomp” and “Melodies from Heaven”. When I feel like the world is getting me down, I sometimes play these songs and feel a renewed sense of optimism.
When you come to vacation in Myrtle Beach, more than likely you’re far away from your home church. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy some good gospel music and great food on Sunday!
