Fun 4th of July Events on the Grand Strand
There’s a bunch of stuff to do on the 4th of July here in Myrtle Beach. Here are a few of the most popular local events you can enjoy this Independence Day, 2013:
The Cupcake Eating Contest at Croissants Bistro & Bakery
I know, I know. The Fourth of July is supposed to be about firing up the BBQ grill and cooking out. But, after all that food, you’ll want a dessert, and this is the perfect contest for anyone with a major sweet tooth. If you think you can become the 2013 Cupcake Champion, visit Croissants Bistro and Bakery located at 3751 Robert Grissom Parkway, just a short drive south of the Caravelle Resort. The event is being held from 3-5pm that day, and for registration info, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (843) 448-2253.
See Fast Cars at the Myrtle Beach Speedway
Yep. They are going for 100 laps. The official title is the NASCAR Wheelin’ All-American Series Late Model race, featuring those old school models as well as a Charger race, a Mini-Stock race, and a huge fireworks display. The stands open up at 5pm that day, and practice starts a half hour later. You can catch that action before the feature race, which starts a few hours later at 8pm. This event has a theme that salutes all of our men and women in uniform, and there is a $2000 prize for the winner. The speedway is located at 455 Hospitality Lane, and if you need more info, just call (704) 792-5999.
The 5k and 8k Race in Market Common
This is the 4th Annual Independence Race, and it starts at 7:00 in the morning at 3410-A Phyllis Blvd. They anticipate over 800 runners there that day, and there’s even a 1-mile kid’s run right before they give out the awards. If you need more info, you can call (843) 712-2618.
Whatever you decide to do on this Fourth of July 2013, be safe, and have a Happy Independence Day!
