The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers baseball team is set to take the field for 2010 with a lofty #12 ranking in the Baseball America preseason poll, and look to extend their run of four consecutive NCAA baseball tournament appearances this weekend at The Caravelle Resort Tournament.
The Caravelle Resort is proud to continue our relationship with the "Chants" in support of their run at another Big South conference baseball championship and NCAA glory. As a proud supporter of Coastal Carolina baseball, the Caravelle has been named title sponsor for THREE tournaments this upcoming season, including the season opening tournament February 19-21. This first Caravelle Resort Tournament will pit the Chants versus Kentucky, West Virginia and Virginia Tech. The second Caravelle sponsored event, The Caravelle Resort Invitational, will match the Chants against the likes of Toledo, Pittsburgh and Ball State on the weekend of March 5-7 at Watson Stadium at CCU. The third and final Caravelle sponsored event, The Caravelle Resort Classic, brings Big 10 teams Illinois and Michigan to Watson Stadium to take on the Chants.
We are thrilled to be a part of another action packed season of Chants baseball, and highly recommend all Caravelle baseball fans trying to fit a game or two into their schedule. Chants key players this year include returning Big South conference pitcher of the year and preseason All American Cody Wheeler, USA Baseball team member Scott Woodward and All Big South preseason members Anthony Meo, Rico Noel, Adam Rice and Daniel Bowman.

Excitement is brewing on the baseball field this week as our hometown Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina University played host to the Conway Regional of the Division 1 College Baseball World Series for the second year in a row, and advanced to this weekend's Super Regional after defeating Columbia University, the University of Alabama and East Carolina University. This achievement marks the first time that the "Chants" have reached the final 16 of NCAA baseball.
We were excited to get in on the action as we hosted the Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team for the weekend. While The Caravelle Resort has long been a supporter of the "Chants" and the CCU athletic program, we have to admit that we found ourselves pulling for our talented guests a little bit. In the end, the Chants pulled out a spectacular come from behind victory over the Crimson Tide in the semi finals.
In 2007, we were fortunate to host the Redmen of St. John's University for the College World Series regional, and in spite of Alabama's loss in the 2008 World Series, we were proud to have hosted such a fine group of student athletes.
