Bill Cosby at the Alabama Theater
On Saturday, October 19th at 8:00pm, the hilarious and legendary comedian Bill Cosby will be at the Alabama Theater! This traditionally star-studded Myrtle Beach venue is not far from The Caravelle Resort at 4750 Hwy 17 S. in Barefoot Landing.
Bill Cosby was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 12, 1937. One of his first big breaks came in the early 1960’s when he was a guest on "The Tonight Show", and soon after that he recorded a comedy album entitled “Bill Cosby is a Very Funny Fellow…Right!” He then won a Grammy for his “I Started Out a Child” album in 1964. While winning Grammy after Grammy for his hilarious recordings in the late 60’s, he was also on a show called “I Spy”, and later his own sitcom “The Bill Cosby Show”.
Other projects on this internationally loved funnyman’s resume include his appearances on the educational show “The Electric Company” and an animated series that he based on his own childhood, the classic cartoon “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids” (this was made into a movie in 2004). My generation knows him mostly for his classic sitcom “The Cosby Show”. He plays Heathcliff Huxtable, a married doctor in New York with five children. Many of the actors and actresses on the show looked up to him as both a mentor and father figure, and they continue to be successful in their careers today. For example, Malcolm Jamal Warner (who played his son Theo on the show) later created his own sitcom entitled “Malcolm & Eddie” with comedian Eddie Griffin. Raven Simone (who played his adorable step-daughter named Olivia) grew up and later starred in her own show called “That’s So Raven”.
On the Alabama Theater’s website, they show one of Mr. Cosby’s most beloved stand-up segments entitled “Jeffery”. Enjoy your own hearty laugh! You’ll definitely enjoy this hilarious show at the Alabama Theater, just as millions of his beloved fans have over the last six decades.
